Title: Electrician
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Electrician to join our dynamic Trafford Account in Manchester. This role will be based on site at Tatton House, 11 Caldey Road, Roundthorn Industrial Estate, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 9LF.
This position offers a competitive salary and overtime.
The standard working hours for this role are 40 hours a week.
In this role, you will support the Trafford Council by maintaining the network, installing all electrical equipment, street light column, bollards, signs and feeder pillars this includes all associated wiring and excavation. Installing cables, cut outs and lanterns and repairing lanterns with interchangeable electronic components.
What You’ll Do:
- Install all electrical equipment conforming to HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations.
- Attend to routine street lighting/cable faults.
- Diagnose and replace failed components.
- Carry out electrical inspection tests and install electrical equipment/cabling to HEA 714 or equivalent.
- Excavate for columns, bollards, sign poles and lay ducting/cable.
- Bulk clean and change of lanterns.
- Make off SWA/PVC/Concentric insulated cable.
- Record test results using certificates/handheld computer.
- Commissioning of new lighting columns/bollards/lit sign poles
- Take part in out of hours emergency services on a call out rota basis.
- Other maintenance tasks as required.
- Provide support to other Amey contracts.
- Responsibility for the security of plant, tools and materials
- Responsibility for wearing all PPE.
- Responsible for own health and safety and that of the public
- The work is carried out outdoors hence you will be working in an environment of varying weather conditions and temperatures and will involve manual exertion.
- The post holder will attend all training deemed appropriate and will be expected to attend regular toolbox talks.
- The post holder will be required to work on a standby rota.

What You’ll Bring:
- Driving Licence - car/C1E
- C/class 2 Driving Licence desirable
- City & Guilds 2360 Part 1/2 or equivalent in Electrical Installation works
- City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection or equivalent
- Able to work at heights of up to 20 metres
- 18th Edition desirable
- Certification for Electrical testing
- HEA Competency Portfolio desirable
- Good all round project management knowledge
